Dried root of Aucklandia lappa Decne.  (Fam.  Compositae).

Property, Flavor and Meridians Entered Bitter, acrid, warm;  Spleen, Stomach, Large Intestine, Triple-Energizer, Gallbladder
Actions To relieve pain by promoting the flow of qi, and to improve digestion by reinforcing the spleen function

Distending pain in the chest and epigastria, tenesmus in dysentery, indigestion with anorexia, in addition, used for chronic atrophic gastritis, acute diarrhea, gallstone, biliary colic, cholecystitis, anicteric hepatitis, bacillary dysentery and algomenorrhea

Special Usage

Fresh ones are used to move qi; Baked ones are used to check diarrhea, indicated for abdominal pain and diarrhea

Chemical Composition

It contains volatile oil, amino acids, etc.
