Exchange of Traditional Chinese Medicine through the Silk Road
In 138 B. C. Zhang Qian was sent as an envoy to the Westerm and thus Reions a communication route across Europe and Asia – the Silk Road. Since then, well-known Chinese medicinal substances such as rhubarb and musk had been introduced to Central Asia and Europe while Western and Southeast Asian medicine and medications were gradually introduced to China.
