Xi Yuan Hospital
Founded in 1955, Xi Yuan Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences is one of the World Health Organization Collaborating Centers for Traditional Medicine. In the past 50 years, it has received over 1,000 delegations from about 100 countries and regions. Every year, it provides medical treatment to several hundred foreign patients, and provides training to hundreds of short-term students from around the world and from the WHO. Meanwhile, each year it sends experts to give lectures abroad, and to attend academic conferences. Since 1990s, the hospital has run over 50 short- and long-term international training programs, receiving about 300 students from U.K., Germany, U.S.A., Canada, Vietnam, North Korea and Mexico. From 2000~2005, it received up to over 2,000 people of 200 overseas delegations to the hospital, among whom are Secretary-General of the WHO, Director of the Hospital Administration of Koln, Germany, a delegation from Cuba Medicine Research and Development Center, and officials in charge of scholarships from the WHO Southeast Office. Cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine is conducted with Japan, Germany, Australia and other countries.
