Spinal Kneading

What Is Spinal Kneading?

It is a therapy in which the practitioner grips and kneads the skin along the spinal column continuously to prevent and cure diseases.

Operating Method

Grip and knead the skin with the thumb and index fingers alternatively along the spine from Changqiang(GV1) to Dazhui (GV14), repeatedly 35 times until local congestion appears.  To improve the effect, grip the skin 3 times and then lift the skin once.  Afterwards press and knead Shenshu (BL23) 2~3 times.  Do the maneuver every day.

Indications

It is effective for regulating the function of the spleen and stomach, and   practitioners used it for indigestion, anorexia, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, cough and shortness of breath, night crying and health care.

Contraindications

It is forbidden to apply it to children with skin injury, boils and dermatosis. Be cautious when treating patients with high fever, heart disease or tendency to bleed.

Precautions

It is generally done when the patient has an empty stomach, or two hours after meals.
Keep appropriate indoor temperature and use gentle maneuver.
Apply it 3~5 times to children with poor health until local congestion appears.
Acupuncture, medication and other therapeutic methods are combined to improve the effects.
